Cadiz & Flamenco *
This tour will depart from the port of Cádiz for a visit to the historical center of town and its bay. Your guide will point out the important monuments and landmarks along the way. Watch for the M udejar-style tobacco factory (1741) which now serves as the Congress building, Santo Domingo Church, the old Royal Prison in Andalusian neo-classical style and the Roman Theatre which overlooks the city's main cathedral. Before reaching the city center, you will also pass the ancient Phoenician port of La Caleta, the Botanical Gardens and the castle walls that once protected the town. Leave the motorcoach at Plaza de España and start your walking tour through the most typical streets of the city. You will see the Plaza de la Mina , once a monk's vegetable patch, and the outside of the Cádiz Museum. On Calle Ancha, there are beautiful 19th century palaces and the Cathedral where you can step inside to view an eclectic transition from 13th century Baroque style to 19th century neo-classical style. Flamenco , a vibrant mixture of dance, song and guitar is the heart and soul of Andalucía. Like the province, flamenco has evolved alongside the contrasting historic influences of Arabic, Jewish, and Gypsy cultures. The Gypsies arrived from India in 1450 and have continued to be pivotal to the development of flamenco. Today, throughout the world there is a demand for a modern, youthful, "flamenco fusion" a blend of flamenco and world music. Obviously, there are differences of opinion between the traditional (cante jondo) purists and the performers of modern flamenco. End up the tour enjoying the most typical Spanish dance. Please note : Comfortable walking shoes are recommended as there are uneven surfaces, cobblestones and steps. Conservative dress (no shorts or bare shoulders), is required inside the Cathedral.

The Rock's Apes spring to mind at the mention of the Rock of Gibraltar and here is where your next stop will take you. You will take a short walk down to King Charles V Wall, better known as 'Ape's Den' which seems to be a usual habitat of the apes, which are indeed a breed of tailless monkeys (Macaca Sylvanus), that roam free on the rocky slopes. They are endearing creatures with a penchant for handbags to say nothing of cameras and hats. Reboard your bus, which will take you on a short drive to Princess Caroline's Battery, a former artillery battery located at the northern end of the Gibraltar Nature Reserve. It was constructed in 1732 and named after the third daughter of King George II. You will be transferred to the City Hall, to visit the Mayor's Parlour and enjoy some cold canapes and beverages. You will then be given some time to roam the building in its entirety including the National Art Gallery. Have your cameras ready as you are allowed to take photos of all the works of art which are on display. Who knows, if you are lucky, you might even run into His Worship the Mayor of Gibraltar and get a chance to have a chat with him and even take a photo with him. You will once again board your motorcoach and be transferred back to the yacht. Please note : The monkeys are animals and are not to be touched however friendly they may seem. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your camera.

Continue to Larios Street , the main shopping avenue of the city, then on to Merced Square , at the end of Calle Alcazabilla, to see the obelisk erected as a tribute to General Torrijos, currently the headquarters of the Picasso Foundation. Next you will ride to the Santiago Church , built on the site of a former mosque and Málaga's oldest church (founded in 1490). You'll also visit the Roman Theatre , discovered in 1951, which was built in the time of Caesar Augustus and used until the 3rd century A.D. After that time, it was used as a quarry by the Moors to restore the Alcazaba, which is the next stop on your tour. This impressive building, constructed mainly in the 11th century, was the palace/fortress of the ruling Muslims. Continuing on your tour, you'll see the Catedral de la Encarnacion , Bishop Square, and the Paseo del Parque , before returning to Marina Square. Please note : This tour is not possible for people confined to wheelchairs. The minimum age to participate is 18 and participants must weigh between 66 and 265 pounds. Helmets will be provided. Malaga, Torcal de Malaga Hiking *

Malaga, Torcal de Malaga Hiking *
Located approximately 19 miles (30 km) north of Malaga in the direction of Antequera, El Torcal Natural Reserve is home to some of the most beautiful and impressive karstic limestone landscapes in Europe. One hundred million years ago, the whole area was below sea level. Then, the Earth crust's violent movements forced the land upward into hills and mountains. The limestone still kept its layered horizontal formation. Beacuse of this, over the course of time, the rain and the wind have been able to chisel away at these layers to form incredible shapes. You will board your motor coach for a 1.5-hour drive to El Torcal Natural Reserve. Then, you will visit the center of El Torcal and learn about its history by watching a 15-minute documentary. At this point, the trekking journey starts. It will take you over interesting valleys, linking up ascents and descents through a fascinating sector labyrinth. Once the route has finished, you will have time to taste Spanish tapas (tortilla and parma ham) and enjoy the viewpoint of Las Ventanillas that you will find next to the parking lot. From this viewpoint, you can see the Costa del Sol on a clear day. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen.

Enjoy a walking tour of this ancient city. If you prefer, opt for a beautiful drive through the Andalusian countryside to Granada and the magnificent UNESCO site, the Alhambra Palace. Its splendid natural surroundings are enhanced by the architectural beauty of its church and 10th century abbey. The imposing cliffs encircling the inlet, a small beach and lush Mediterranean vegetation, combined with the almost unreal absence of vehicles, creates a truly unique and enjoyable ambiance. Pause to savor the enchanting views as your boat remains in the bay for 10 minutes. Heading further up the coast you will reach Camogli , a typical small fishing village that was formerly the site of bustling shipyards that helped build one of the world's greatest merchant fleets. Today, it is connected to the mainland by a square surrounded by colorful buildings including one of the Italian coast's most beautiful Baroque churches. During your 1 1/2-hour stay, there will be time for a guided tour followed by free time. Back aboard your boat, enjoy the 45-minute return cruise to Portofino. Sorrento, Herculaneum *

Sorrento, Herculaneum *
The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its "decumani" (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the "cardines" (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a "feeling" about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii's buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. You will discover the ancient luxurious properties and villas including the House of the Mosaic , the House of Deer , the Thermae (baths) and the House of Carbonized Furniture . After a guided tour, you will be driven back to meet the yacht in Sorrento. Please note : This tour involves considerable walking on uneven pathways. Bring a sun hat, as shade is limited. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
