You will board your bus for the 75-minute ride to Neapolis Archaeological Park which was created between 1952 and 1955 and contains many classical monuments. This doesn't detract in any way from the powerful fascination of this unique place. The Greek Theatre, dated back to 5th century B.C,. is one of the largest and best preserved theaters of the ancient world. The Roman Amphitheater which is hewn out of the rocks, dates from 2nd century A.D., and the entrance and gangways for animals and gladiators can still be seen. Pretty Xlendi Bay lies on the west coast of Gozo, an island long thought to be the mythical Ogygia of Homer's Odyssey. In the story, Calypso fell in love with Odysseus and held him captive for seven years.. The reputed Calypso Cave is just one of several intriguing caves on the island. There's also Caroline's Cave, a natural grotto that was once a private swimming hole for nuns. Surprisingly for such a small island, Gozo is home to the oldest freestanding temples in the world, the Ggantija Temples, nestled among the rolling green hills. You should also visit the Citadella, a small, fortified town that houses the island's Cathedral, the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, and the Old Prisons.

The tour begins with a scenic drive across the island, heading toward Dwejra on the southwestern coast. This area was once home to the famous Azure Window, or "It-Tieqa" as it's called locally, a natural limestone arch formed by sea erosion over thousands of years. Sadly, in 2017, a powerful storm destroyed this iconic landmark, returning it to the sea. Next, guests will visit the Ta' Pinu Shrine, a Roman Catholic minor basilica and national shrine dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of Ta' Pinu. Located about 700 meters from the village of Gharb on Gozo, Malta's sister island, the basilica sits in the peaceful countryside, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It holds deep national significance for the people of Gozo. The tour then proceeds to Victoria, the island's capital, where guests will explore the Citadel, also known as the "Gran Castello." Built in the 15th century by the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, the Citadel served as both a fortress and refuge for locals during attacks by Turks and Corsairs. Afterward, guests will be taken to the Ggantija Temples, an extraordinary megalithic complex. These temples, among the largest free-standing prehistoric structures in the world, date back to around 3600 BC and are part of Malta's ancient temple sites, known to be the oldest in the world. Despite being over 5,000 years old, they remain remarkably well-preserved, offering insight into a mysterious culture whose origins continue to baffle historians. After an unforgettable day exploring Gozo's rich history, guests will return to the port in time for their short journey back to the ship. Please Note : Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.

Valletta, Mdina's Noble Heritage

Valletta, Mdina's Noble Heritage
Depart the quay and drive to The Silent City - Mdina , Malta's old Capital. Mdina is a medieval walled town situated on a hill in the center of the island. You will walk through the narrow streets of the town, visit St Paul's Cathedral , the Ramparts for a panoramic view, and Palazzo Falson , the best preserved palazzo of its period. Walk down any Maltese street in the town core, with its sheer limestone walls, studded doors and wooden 'gallarijas', and you will get few clues to what lies on the other side of these crumbling facades. Casa Bernard is a perfect example as its sober and imposing facade in the Mannerist 16th century architectural idiom reminiscent of Gerolamo Cassar betrays nothing of the calm, classic beauty that lies within. This walk usually lasts no more than 20 minutes at a slow pace. This is when Casa Bernard starts to shine, as apart from the beauty of its architecture one enjoys the many beautiful pieces of art both ancient and modern. Please note : To enter the Cathedral, guests must have their knees covered, no stiletto heels and no bare shoulders. Walking involves cobblestone streets and climbing steps so this tour is not recommended for guests with limited mobility.

At once ancient and contemporary, Trapani is a city of contrasts. From the salt marshes that produce much of the Mediterranean's signature colored salts, to the intricate mosaics of Mozia and the famous wines of Marsala, to the best view in all of Sicily from the medieval hill town of Erice where the colorful gardens are rivaled only by the cannolis for pure sensory delight. The line of 17th century windmills, still hard at work in ancient Phoenician salt marshes beckons you to return to Trapani again and again.
Trapani, Walking Tour with Sicilian Coffee Break *

Trapani, Walking Tour with Sicilian Coffee Break *
Trapani is an attractive old port town, rediscovering its charms after years of neglect. Halfway between Europe and Tunis, it was a rich trading center throughout the early Middle Ages, then, flourished again in the 19th and early 20th centuries as a stronghold of the tuna-canning industry. After that, it went into decline, and became a salty old port. Then, it was selected to host the 2004 America's Cup and received a massive injection of cash - buildings were restored, streets in the historic center pedestrianized - giving the town and its people a new confidence. These days Trapani is a thoroughly pleasant place to hang out for a couple of days. You will join your guide for a pleasant walking visit of the historical center of Trapani, with its many churches and palazzos with their ornate façades and elaborate interior, perfect examples of the Baroque style. At the end of the guided visit, enjoy a typical Sicilian coffee break including one cannolo and one coffee or one cappuccino, followed by 45 minutes of free time. At the conclusion of your tour you can leisurely walk back to the pier with your guide or continue to spend time in town returning to the ship on your own. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen. Proper attire that covers shoulders and knees is required for both men and women to enter religious venues. This tour is not suitable for those with walking difficulties because of the many stairs and slopes to climb.

The landscape unfolds with two distinct acropolises crowning the peaks of Monte Barbaro. Segesta's historical prominence resonates through diplomatic ties with cities like Athens and Carthage. Its treasures include a Doric-style temple and a Hellenistic-era theater skillfully carved into the rocky hillside. Recent excavations have unearthed a Hellenistic-Roman town and a medieval village, adding layers to the rich tapestry of Segesta's past. This archaeological gem stands as one of Sicily's best-preserved sites, promising an immersive and captivating experience. Following a guided exploration of the site, you'll have some free time before you return to the ship. Please note : We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen.
Trapani, Marsala and Lite Lunch at Cantine Pellegrino *

Trapani, Marsala and Lite Lunch at Cantine Pellegrino *

Lipari is the largest of the seven islands and its history is entirely concentrated around the narrow platform of the so-called Castello, a fine natural fortress formed by a rhyolitic socle, on the flat summit of which there has accumulated a further earth socle, carried by the wind. From your yacht you will tender to shore where you will have a 20-minute walk to the museum. You'll have the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum ( at your own expense ) or wander through the beautiful terrace for impressive photo opportunities. On the return walk a refreshment of local granita with brioche will be served before taking your tender to the yacht or you may choose to remain in town. During summer time it is very hot and this tour is suitable for guests in good physical condition only. Please note : This tour is not suitable for people with walking difficulties, since much uphill walking is involved on cobblestones and gravel pathways. Wear comfortable walking shoes.
Lipari, Vulcano by Boat with Hiking *

Lipari, Vulcano by Boat with Hiking *
The island of Vulcano, once called Hierò Thermessa is one of the most interesting in the Aeolian archipelago because of the exceptional nature of its landscapes and the variety of its landscapes and the variety of its volcanic phenomena. Dedicated to Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and metal working; Homer described the island as the workshop of Hephaestus, the Greek god of fire. Your tour will begin with a boat trip around the island with a breathtaking view of the Faraglioni ,Grotta del Cavallo, and Vulcanello . The only landing place is the Porto di Levante. Vulcano consists of three old craters. The first, in the south between Monte Aria and Monte Saraceno, has been extinct for centuries; the GranCratere , on the other hand, is still active, the last eruption occurring in 1890. Vulcanello, the third crater, is a promontory on the north eastern tip of the island created almost 2,000 years ago by an eruption. The climb up to the middle crater is particularly interesting and you can reach the top in less than an hour. Please note: The hike to the volcano is only recommended for fit people as a lot of uphill walking is involved. Wear walking shoes, bring a change of clothes and bottled water.

UNESCO World Heritage Sites abound in Sorrento. Optional tours will take you to the archaeological areas of Pompeii and Torre Annunziata, or the 4th century B.C. city of Herculaneum. Perhaps your choice will be a boat ride to Positano, the legendary home of the Sirens. Perched on a terrace on the spectacular Amalfi Coast, Sorrento offers exceptional views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius.

Sorrento, Herculaneum *

Sorrento, Herculaneum *
The city of Herculaneum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was founded around the 4th century B.C., copying the geometric regularity of the layout of Naples. Its "decumani" (main streets) have an east-west orientation, while the "cardines" (narrower streets) run north-south. There is undeniably a "feeling" about Herculaneum, quite different from Pompeii, where you get the impression that its ancient population of 5,000 packed up and left only moments ago. Herculaneum was smaller than Pompeii but is better preserved simply because, while hot ashes consumed the wood of Pompeii's buildings, Herculaneum was covered by hot mud which sealed and protected entire city blocks. This means that marble floors, mosaics, paintings and carbonized woods can still be admired today. You will discover the ancient luxurious properties and villas including the House of the Mosaic , the House of Deer , the Thermae (baths) and the House of Carbonized Furniture . After a guided tour, you will be driven back to meet the yacht in Sorrento. Please note : This tour involves considerable walking on uneven pathways. Bring a sun hat, as shade is limited. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
