Bordeaux has long been known as La Belle au Bois Dormant, Sleeping Beauty. And while the beauty part is undeniable, the sleeping part could be argued. Sure, the region is filled with treasures from long ago, including more than 350 historic monuments and buildings in the city alone. But the capital of Aquitaine is also home to a vibrant culture and, as oenophiles well know, is the gateway to some of France's most famous vineyards. In this UNESCO World Heritage city, 13th century cathedrals and 18th century palaces are commonplace. Venture beyond the city's borders to the chateaux of the Médoc region or to Saint-Émilion, a breathtaking medieval village set among the vineyards that is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Gibraltar, Exclusive Mayor's Parlour & Hidden Gems of Gibraltar *
From the quayside travel north to the border between this small colony and Spain. View this remarkable border and the Spanish mainland beyond. Proceed along the outskirts of town, passing the American War Memorial and The Trafalgar Cemetery to arrive at Europa Point. From this vantage point you can admire views of the coast of North Africa, 12 miles across the famous Straits of Gibraltar. You will appreciate why this territory was and continues to be of such strategic importance to the British Navy. Your tour will then take you on to Rooke's Battery, a now derelict artillery battery on the west side of the Rock of Gibraltar. The Battery has a plaque labelled '1906' and is named after Sir George Rooke who commanded the British Fleet when Gibraltar came under British Rule. Move on to the nearby Windsor Suspension Bridge. One of Gibraltar's newest tourist attractions, it is not for the faint hearted. This spectacular feat of engineering is 233 feet (71 meters) in length, across a 164-foot (50-meter)-deep gorge, affording magnificent views across the bay and city of Gibraltar. The Rock's Apes spring to mind at the mention of the Rock of Gibraltar and here is where your next stop will take you. You will take a short walk down to King Charles V Wall, better known as 'Ape's Den' which seems to be a usual habitat of the apes, which are indeed a breed of tailless monkeys (Macaca Sylvanus), that roam free on the rocky slopes. They are endearing creatures with a penchant for handbags to say nothing of cameras and hats. Reboard your bus, which will take you on a short drive to Princess Caroline's Battery, a former artillery battery located at the northern end of the Gibraltar Nature Reserve. It was constructed in 1732 and named after the third daughter of King George II. You will be transferred to the City Hall, to visit the Mayor's Parlour and enjoy some cold canapes and beverages. You will then be given some time to roam the building in its entirety including the National Art Gallery. Following a guided exploration of the site, you'll have some free time before you return to the ship. Please note : We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a hat and sunscreen.

Argostoli, Melissani Lake & Drogarati Cave *
Kephalonia is the largest of the Ionian island renowned for it's many caves, fir forests and fine beaches. From the quayside at Argostoli you will proceed towards Drogarati Cave. Upon your arrival at the cave you will proceed down a flight of steps leading to a cavern of orange and yellow stalactites and stalagmites. One of the great chambers has such fine acoustics that Maria Callas came there to sing, and concerts are occasionally held in the summer. You will then proceed in a northerly direction passing the town of Sami to the subterranean lake of Melissani . Small boats will be waiting to take you on a breathtaking trip across its mysterious salt water encircling you in a vast shimmering play of blue and violet colors, captured by the sun filtering through a hole in the chasm, 100 feet overhead. The water begins where you did in Argostoli, entering through swallow holes in the coast and traveling under the island to this cave. The tour will continue along the coast with spectacular views across the strait to the neighboring island of Ithaca, before arriving at Aghia Efthimia , standing at the base of Kephalonia's northernmost peninsular. You will then proceed west to Myrtos, where sheer white cliffs carpeted by green maquis frame a stunning crescent of tiny white pebbles and patches of sand against the deep blue sea. Please note : This tour involves a lot of driving. Although the roads are mostly in very good condition some parts contain a certain amount of winding uphill driving. Passengers suffering from motion sickness should take this into consideration. The visit to Melissani Lake will involve a certain amount of walking and steps. The boats at the lake are small with 12 seats each. There are quite a few steps to be considered at Drogarati Cave. Guests with physical limitations or suffering from claustrophobia and/or breathing problems are kindly requested to take this into account. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Corfu, Mon Repo Palace & Corfu Town *
Corfu, Mon Repo Palace & Corfu Town *
The tour begins with a scenic drive through the heart of town, leading you into Corfu's lush and verdant countryside, a striking contrast to most Greek islands. As you travel, you'll pass groves of olive, orange, and lemon trees, interspersed with tall, elegant cypress trees. Your first stop is the Mon Repos Palace, perched atop Analipsis Hill near the Kanoni area. Built in 1826 by British Commissioner Frederic Adams as a gift to his Corfiot wife, Nina Palatianou, this charming palace combines colonial architectural elements with a picturesque, green setting. Originally a summer residence for British governors, Mon Repos was later gifted to King George I of Greece when the Ionian Islands were united with Greece in 1864. The palace also holds historical significance as the birthplace of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on June 10, 1921. During World War II, it served as the residence of the Italian governor of the Ionian Islands. Over the years, ownership of the palace was disputed between the Greek government and the former royal family of Greece. In 2002, the European Court of Human Rights ruled in favor of the former King Constantine, awarding him compensation for the properties lost after the monarchy was abolished in 1975. Today, Mon Repos is a beautifully restored tourist attraction managed by the Municipality of Corfu, welcoming visitors from around the world. Surrounded by a large park, the palace offers a serene environment, and across from it lie the ruins of ancient Corfu, suggesting that Mon Repos may have been built on the site of the island's original city. The tour continues to Kanoni, where you'll see the old cannon that gives the area its name. From this vantage point, you'll enjoy views of the Vlacherna nunnery and Mouse Island in the distance. On the return journey, you'll take a different route back to town, where you can stroll through the narrow, balconied streets of the old district. The tour concludes with a visit to the beautiful church of St. Spiridon before returning to the quayside. Please note : Wear comfortable walking shoes. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.

The monastery bears the name of a local hermit, the Blessed Loukas (Ossios Loukas) of Stiri, who was famed for his austerity, the dignity of his life, his prophecies and the miraculous cures he performed. You'll want to be on deck today as we transit the narrow Corinth Canal with other private yachts and Greek mail steamers. It's a shortcut reserved for petite ships like ours, and as we cruise between the narrow limestone walls we are the envy of all the ancient Romans who once portaged their ships along this very route before there was a canal. Canal transit time and duration is subject to change based on traffic and canal authorities.

With 3,000 years of history, you can't turn around in Athens without encountering the past. The Acropolis, a UNESCO site, the Plaka, and the Acropolis Museum are must-sees. But leave time if you can to climb Pnyx Hill for photos of the Parthenon at sunset, to buy your own set of Greek komboloi (worry beads), and to explore the metro stations that serve as mini-museums for the relics that are constantly being unearthed.
